Statistical Methods for Classification of Wooden Boards

The quality inspection of wooden boards is experiencing a large change. By the use of camera and laser technology board characteristics and defects can be instantly identified and measured. This thesis investigates how the information from a quality inspection system can be used to classify boards into different quality classes, by the use of statistical classification models. Two types of classif

Integration of Mobile Manipulators in an Industrial Production

Purpose– The purpose of this study has been to evaluate the technology of autonomous mobile manipulation in a real world industrial manufacturing environment. The objective has been to obtain experience in the integration with existing equipment and determine key challenges in maturing the technology to a level of readiness suitable for industry. Despite much research within the topic of industria

How to Increase Sales of Agricultural Machinery in Romania

Problem Definition: The aim with this master thesis is to examine the available European Union funded financial support for investment in agricultural machinery in Romania. Its regulations and limits and what customer group Väderstad Verken AB shall target during the pending European Union budget period 2007-2013. Omodern kunskapsförmedlare eller demokratiskt nav till för alla? : hur diskurserna kring museiarkitektur och verksamhet avspeglar tankar om museernas roll.

The purpose of this thesis is to further the understanding of the interaction between museum architecture and the daily operation of the museum, eg the exhibitions, work shops and other activities and how this affect the way we may understand the function of a museum. I have used Norman Faircloughs critical discourse analysis to analyse several articles concerning the resent construction of two mu

Xenophobia in Europe, testing economic interests and national identity

In this study I have explored xenophobia in Europe, using cross-national attitudinal survey and regression analysis. Two main theories constitute the theoretical framework, one based on economic conditions and one on group belonging and identity. They are tested, using the ISSP study from 2003 with the yearly topic ‘National Identity’, and their relation to the dependent variable, xenophobia, is e

Reaction of Peroxomonosulfate Radical with Manganese(II) in Acidic Aqueous Solution. A Pulse Radiolysis Study

The reaction between the SO5– radical and MnII has been proposed to be the most important process for regeneration of MnIII in the MnIII/II-catalysed autoxidation of SIV in acidic aqueous solution. In the present study, the second-order rate constant for this reaction has been determined at pH 3. 0 and 10 mmol dm–3 ionic strength by use of pulse radiolysis. The study was performed in the presence

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of Potassium Tetranitrato Palladate(II)

K2[Pd(NO3)4] has been prepared and its crystal structure determined by use of a CAD-4 diffractometer with monochromatic Mo Kα radiation. The space group is P21/c with Z = 4; a= 7.940(2); b = 15.469(4); c = 9.453(2) Å; β = 91.10(3)°. The refinement converged to R = 0.023. The structure contains discrete complexes of [Pd(NO3)4]2− with pseudo-symmetry C4. Pd coordinates four oxygens from different un

Foreigner talk eller foreignness? - Västerlänningars språk i japansk skönlitteratur

The present study seeks, with a corpus of eight Japanese works of fiction, to identify if the speech patterns of Westerners in Japanese literature have their origins in the simplified register referred to as “foreigner talk”, i.e. the register used to address non-native speakers with low linguistic competence, and also if foreigner talk is commonly used in Japanese literature for addressing non-na

Does Reality Match Ambition? Multilevel governance of building energy efficiency in Brunnshög, Sweden

Improving energy efficiency in buildings is an important part of the EU’s ambitions to address climate change and other environmental, social and economic challenges. This is a role that is traditionally taken on by varying levels of governments, each level addressing elements that fall within their areas of jurisdiction. In today’s increasingly decentralised and yet simultaneously complex, integr

When diaspora identities are in between: The Ahwazis of Northern Europe

The Iranian diaspora is rather well studied. Researchers have investigated wide topics within the diaspora, from its political activities, the identity of 2nd generation diaspora Iranians, to host society dynamics and nostalgia. These studies reveal an ethno-nationalist attitude, as many in the Iranian diaspora do not adhere to the Persian-dominated identity articulated by the Iranian diaspora. To

Adsorption, desorption, and redox reactions at iron oxide nanoparticle surfaces

Soils play a critical role in the carbon (C) cycle by regulating the atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) levels, and correspondingly the Earth’s climate. However, there are still countless questions of how biological and geochemical soil processes affect the C cycle. To be able to predict future implications on the Earth’s climate, we need to understand these processes. Globally, soils store more C tIron oxide nanoparticles are involved in several important biogeochemical processes. The interfaces between aqueous solutions and iron oxide nanoparticle surfaces are found everywhere in nature, and the chemical and microbial processes occurring at these complex interfaces control e.g. nutrient and contaminant availability and transport. Recently, it has been shown that certain ectomycorrhizal (EC

Obesutten och osynliggjord : En betraktelse över historisk arkeologi på marginalen

In the 19th and early 20th centuries there were numerous non-proprietors paupers in the Swedish countryside such as crofters, boarders and inhabitants of rural slums. Investigation of groundwater resources - A case study in north-west Tanzania using remote sensing analysis and groundwater simulation

Globally 884 million people depend on unsafe drinking water, of which 159 million depend on untreated surface water (WHO, 2017). In Tanzania 44% of the popula- tion lack access to safe drinking water (WaterAid, 2017). Women and children in the small city of Chonyonyo, in Karagwe district are walking several hours a day for contaminated drinking water. According to a study, carried out in TanzaniIn Chonyonyo, a village in north-west Tanzania, the majority of the population have no access to the groundwater beneath them. Every day, women and children walk several hours to a hole shared with animals, to collect contaminated drinking water for their families’ domestic needs. This report shows that the groundwater resources in the area are sufficient to supply the people of Chonyonyo with fre
