AMDS.GlOW36 Language Faculty, Complexity Reduction and Symmetry Breaking Anna Maria Di Sciullo, Université du Québec à Montréal 1. I assume that the Language Faculty is stable, it does not vary though time and space, and that language development requires experience (Chomsky 1995, 2005, 2011). I develop the view that language evolutionary development is the result of the interaction of the languag

Activation and Participation in Ecological Sound Art

Showing of two installations that result from an ecological sound art practice and its complex and radical modulation of performing/composing/curating within assemblages. The works spring out of an ecological-enactive approach, where through relational technique and fleshy listening the authors explore what the performative body can do; what connections and networks it creates across temporality a

State of fairness in esfri projects

Since 2009 initiatives that were selected for the roadmap of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures started working to build research infrastructures for a wide range of research disciplines. An important result of the strategic discussions was that distributed infrastructure scenarios were now seen as “complex research facilities” in addition to, for example traditional centralis

Interacting Giants and Compact Stars

This thesis is based on four papers dealing with various aspects of interactions in binary stars. Interactions between stars occur at nearly all stages of their evolution and can take many forms. For example, stars may lose material to a binary companion, merge, interact with groups of other stars in star clusters and explode in binary systems, among other interactions.

Återvinningsföretaget Sysav står nu i ett vägskäl mellan hur de ska välja tjänstetelefoner till företThe cell phone industry is one of the most linear sectors, which means high resource consumption in the production of telephones and difficulties in repair. In addition, only 10-12% take-back of used units takes place, the rest are often forgotten in drawers or handled incorrectly. An interesting area of research is how companies can make their choices to reduce the life cycle environmental impact

Airfoil Optimization Through Differential Evolution

This thesis presents the development of a numerical optimization algorithm for airfoils, and how it can be used in design of wind turbine blades. It was found that the developed algorithm successfully improves the goal parameters under given conditions and constraints. This research was conducted on behalf of Winfoor AB who has developed a conceptually new blade design, in which every single blade

Transferability of Online Store Image- A Comparative Study of Zalando's Online Store Image In Germany, Sweden and The Netherlands.pdf

Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to examine the role of online store image in the internationalization process of online retailers. Based on the assumption that a favorable image is a competitive advantage for retailers, this master thesis examines whether or not a favorable domestic online store image, can be replicated in the in- ternationalization process of online retailers. GigaFRoST : The gigabit fast readout system for tomography

Owing to recent developments in CMOS technology, it is now possible to exploit tomographic microscopy at third-generation synchrotron facilities with unprecedented speeds. Despite this rapid technical progress, one crucial limitation for the investigation of realistic dynamic systems has remained: A generally short total acquisition time at high frame rates due to the limited internal memory of av
