Att ta debatten, hålla distansen och hitta balansen – En studie av partistrategiska svårigheter i bemötandet av Sverigedemokraterna i fyra sydsvenska kommuner

This thesis explores the strategic interaction between mainstream parties and the Sweden Democrats (SD), a Swedish radical right-wing populist party (RRP-party). The purpose is twofold: (1) to identify strategic difficulties in responding to SD, and (2) to problemize and simplify the results in order to deepen the strategic understanding. Ten qualitative and explorative interviews are conducted wi

Chantal Mouffes Vänsterpopulism, en vitalisering av eller ett hot mot demokratin?

This essay which is considered to be a study in political theory aims to analyze if Chantal Mouffe's theories about left populism should be used to radicalize democracy and the democratic values of liberty and equality. Politics is today in a post-democratic situation, where the neoliberal hegemony does not allow opinions that don't fit into the neoliberal consensus. Mouffe critiques the c

"Fighters for the Freedom of Ukraine" : Canada's Nazi Collaborator Monuments

Heroic narrations of Waffen-SS are encountered in several memory cultures, notleast among Cold War émigrés.1 One example of this is the Ukrainian communityin Canada, in particular the so-called third wave of Displaced Persons, refugeesfrom communist rule in Eastern Europe. It constitutes a community of memoryin many key respects at odds with the Canadian mainstream society. Whereas theHolocaust ocThe 14th Waffen-SS Division Galizien was set up in 1943 by Ukrainian volunteers, largely sympathetic to the more conservative Melnyk wing of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN(m)). Its members took a personal oath of allegiance to Adolf Hitler and served in a number of capacities on the eastern front. In addition to combat at the front, the unit partook in the crushing of the Slovak N

Evaluation of set points for moisture supply and volatile organic compounds as controlling parameters for demand controlled ventilation in multifamily houses

The main purpose has been to evaluate existing set points (thresholds) and suggest proper set points, for the regulation of the air change rate in a demand controlled mechanical ventilation (DCV) system. The DCV is controlled by measurements in the supply and exhaust air of the vapor content and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) for each dwelling in multifamily houses. Results have been achieved t

Economic Inequality and the Ecological Footprint: Time-Varying Estimates for the United States and France, 1962–2021

This paper studies the nexus between income and wealth inequality, and the ecological footprint in the United States and France from 1962 to 2021. Based on theoretical considerations, we allow the relationship to vary over time. We find some support for income inequality affecting the ecological footprint in the United States and that the relationship has changed over time. We find no such result

Modeling of an anode supported Solid Oxide Fuel Cell focusing on Thermal Stresses

A mechanical failure of a single component is sufficient to cause a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) breakdown. As an unfavorable issue for interfering the stable operation of SOFCs, thermal stress stemming from temperature gradient and mechanical mismatch can result in crack damage. Therefore, it is strongly significant to clarify the relationship of mechanical properties of the cell materials with dA mechanical failure of a single component is sufficient to cause a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) breakdown. Income inequality and life expectancy: A study on inequality and its potential effect on longevity

The potential effects of income inequality have received much attention from researcher and policy-makers in recent years. Income inequality is found by many researchers to have negative effect on health outcomes, crime rates and long-term economic growth. Previous studies have focused mainly on developed countries due to data availability. This study aims at further investigate the hypothesis of

Kommunikation: vägen till medarbetares attityd i en organisationsförändring

This study investigated whether change communication can be related to employees’ attitude towards a transition to an Activity based workplace (ABW). A quantitative study was conducted in collaboration with a company and the participants of the survey were the employees at the company. This study’s results have in several ways presented that there is a relationship between change communication and

The MS4A gene cluster is a key modulator of soluble TREM2 and Alzheimer's disease risk

Soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (sTREM2) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) has been associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD). TREM2 plays a critical role in microglial activation, survival, and phagocytosis; however, the pathophysiological role of sTREM2 in AD is not well understood. Understanding the role of sTREM2 in AD may reveal new pathological mechanisms and lead to the i

Byggavfall - förbränna eller återbruka?

This paper will focus on the environmental effect of certain building materials after they have served the purpose of what they were designed for. Mainly it will try to answer the question: What would be the better option for the used product? Energy recovery, recycling, or reuse of the materials? And from which standpoint is it better to do any of these three. How does this effect the environment

Determining evacuation capability with biomechanical data

Experimental data on single file pedestrian movement has been analysed andimplemented in a prototype movement model. The prototype model is developed topredict movement of persons based on a first principle approach using basic populationdata such as age, height, gender and response time to adapt the walking speed in a crowd. The experimental data provide the biomechanical information needed in the

Swedish Innovation Advice for Austria

At first glance Austria and Sweden seem to be two very comparable European coun-tries. However, in regard of several innovation indexes Sweden scores significantly bet-ter. This thesis elaborates why Sweden achieves continuously better results than Austria and seeks for Swedish innovation advice for the state in the Alps. However, a compari-son of innovation indicators and a comparative case study

Exhaust PM Emissions Analysis of Alcohol Fueled Heavy-Duty Engine Utilizing PPC

The focus has recently been directed towards the engine out soot from Diesel engines. Running an engine in PPC (Partially Premixed Combustion) mode has a proven tendency of reducing these emissions significantly. In addition to combustion strategy, several studies have suggested that using alcohol fuels aid in reducing soot emissions to ultra-low levels. This study analyzes and compares the charac

Studies on Potency and breadth of HIV-1, HIV-2 and SIV neutralizing antibody responses

Popular Abstract in English Thirty years after the discovery of HIV, the AIDS epidemic is still with us. While the incidence is declining globally and access to anti-retroviral therapy for low- and middle-income countries is improving, the number of new HIV infections is still high. Despite stubborn efforts to design viral immunogens, an effective formulation for the induction of broad and potent Even though the relative contribution of neutralizing antibodies (Nab) to prevent progression to AIDS during HIV-1 infection is still unclear, the induction of broadly NAb directed against HIV-1 through vaccination is considered to represent an important goal for the development of HIV-1 vaccines. Factors contributing to the induction of NAb may include the strength and duration of antigenic stimu
