In this paper we highlight the presence of tachycardia in Post-acute Covid-19 Syndrome by introducing a new label for this phenomenon: Post-covid-19 tachycardia syndrome and argue that this constitutes a phenotype or sub-syndrome in PACS. We also discuss epidemiology, putative mechanisms, treatment options and future research directions in this novel clinical syndrome.

The study investigated the effects of forest residue extraction on tree growth and base cations concentrations in soil waterunder different climatic conditions in Sweden. For this purpose, the dynamic model ForSAFE was used to compare theeffects of whole-tree harvesting and stem harvesting on tree biomass and the soil solution over time at 6 different forestsites. The study confirmed the results f

Conductive polymer direct electroplating technology is one of the research hotspots in printed circuit board manufacturing. In this work, we designed a simple, efficient and environmental friendly chemical polymerization method to form a conductive polymer-based metal-mixed composite film where the polymer was polythiophene and the metals included copper and silver (PT-based Cu/Ag composite film).

Hydrodynamical simulations predict the inward migration of giant planets during the gas phase of the protoplanetary disc. This phenomenon is also invoked to explain resonant and near-resonant exoplanetary system structures. The early inward migration may also have affected our Solar System and sculpted its different minor planet reservoirs. In this study we explore how the early inward migration o

Shrinking household size is a key challenge for sustainability, simultaneously decreasing sharing and increasing resource consumption. We use the Danish Household Budget Survey and carbon intensities from EXIOBASE to characterise small households in socio-demographic cohorts along the carbon footprint spectrum. Single and dual occupant households represent 77% of the Danish carbon footprint and 73

Waves are a primary erosive agent on intertidal shore platforms. In microtidal environments, as waves cross a shore platform the energy transforms from gravity to infragravity frequencies. The morphology of the intertidal zone is a key boundary condition for this energy transformation. Waves approaching the shore however often interact with the seabed at some distance from the intertidal platform.

Objectives Early diagnosis and timely treatment are key elements of a successful healthcare system. We assessed the role of socioeconomic and cultural norms in accelerating or decelerating uptake and utilisation of health technologies into policy and practice. Setting Secondary and tertiary level healthcare facilities (HCFs) in three East African countries. Level of HCF was selected based on the W

Measurements of the decay of electric fields, formed spontaneously within vapour-deposited films ofcis-methyl formate, provide the first direct assessment of the energy barrier to secondary relaxation in a molecular glass. At temperatures far below the glass transition temperature, the mechanism of relaxation is shown to be through hindered molecular rotation. Magnetically-polarised neutron scatte

The exact cellular functions of cystatins are still unknown, and the molecular mechanism leading to their internalization into cells is not yet fully understood. Commonly the cystatins are known to inhibit human lysosomal cysteine proteases (cysteine cathepsins) and it is supposed that this is their primary physiological role. The cystatins are traditionally believed to mediate regulation of cyste

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a highly prevalent group of disorders and among the most common causes of chronic pain and disability globally. First-line evidence-based treatments for hip and knee OA, two of the most common variants, are available in Sweden with the potential for wide national reach through face-to-face and digital platforms. Research results suggest important reductions in symptoms in pa

G-ratio weighted imaging is a non-invasive, in-vivo MRI-based technique that aims at estimating an aggregated measure of relative myelination of axons across the entire brain white matter. The MR g-ratio and its constituents (axonal and myelin volume fraction) are more specific to the tissue microstructure than conventional MRI metrics targeting either the myelin or axonal compartment. To calculat

Background: Sensorimotor impairments of upper limb (UL) are common after stroke, leading to difficulty to use the UL in daily life. Even though many have sensory impairments in the UL, specific sensory training is often lacking in stroke rehabilitation. Thus, the aim of this paper is to provide a detailed description of the novel intervention “SENSory re-learning of the UPPer limb after stroke (SE

In recent years, air ventilation garments (AVG) have been reported effective to improve thermal comfort. In this study, an AVG incorporated with small fans was investigated on torso thermal comfort in moderate environment (Ta=25 °C, RH=50 %). Eight female subjects walked on the treadmill at a speed of 4 km·h−1 for 30 min and then rested for another 30 min. During the whole test protocol, the AVG w

Preventive home visits (PHVs) are offered to older persons with the purpose of promoting health and preventing risks on an individual level. However, aspects of health need to be considered on a societal level as well. This study aims to get a deeper understanding of perceptions of the usability of the information compiled during the PHVs to promote health, among older persons, on a societal level

Current sustainability assessment (SA) tools to help deal with contaminated groundwater sites are inherently subjective and hardly applied. One reason may be lack of proper tools for addressing contaminant spread which are basically objective. To fill this gap, there is a need for contaminant transport models that provide site managers with needed room for applying their judgments and consideratio

Background: Presently, persons with diabetes are classified as having type 1 (T1D) or type 2 diabetes (T2D) based on clinical diagnosis. However, adult patients exhibit diverse clinical representations and this makes treatment approaches challenging to personalize. A recent Scandinavian study proposed a novel classification of adult diabetes into five clusters based on disease pathophysiology and

Ever since hematopoietic cells became “events” enumerated and characterized in suspension by cell counters or flow cytometers, researchers and engineers have strived to refine the acquisition and display of the electronic signals generated. A large array of solutions was then developed to identify at best the numerous cell subsets that can be delineated, notably among hematopoietic cells. As instr
