Grants and scholarships
The New Society of Letters regularly provides support for humanities research at Lund University. The most recent call for applications for funding of travel for research or conferences was issued in March. This call is targeted at PhD holders, preferably younger researchers and is announced via the University’s scholarship portal.
Calls for applications for funding of travel for research and conferences, and for proofreading of academic journal articles and monographs
Grants of up to SEK 10 000 are distributed as travel funds for active researchers and/or for costs of proofreading of academic journal articles or monographs. Only applicants presenting their research at the conference will be eligible for travel funding.
Please note that allowances will not be granted for daily expenses.
The New Society of Letters at Lund only pays such grants directly to individual researchers (not via the department). Those eligible to apply for funds are:
Active researchers within the humanities and similar disciplines at Lund University, who have completed their doctoral degree and are below the age of 55 on the final application date.
Calls are published in early Spring each year. The application documents should be submitted in one single file.

The New Society of Letters at Lund only disburses such grants directly to individual researchers (not via the department). Those eligible to apply for funds are active researchers within the humanities and similar disciplines at Lund University, who have completed their doctoral degree and are below the age of 55. Allowances will not be granted for daily expenses for any trip.
1. Research trips
a. The research project in question must be clearly specified, as well as how it is funded and how the trip will contribute to its implementation.
b. The budget must specify the travel route, mode of transport, number of trips and period for which accommodation is required.
2. Travel to conferences
a. Applications for funding of travel to conferences will only be approved where the applicant will be presenting their research and where the applicant can show confirmation of being accepted by the conference.
b. The budget must specify the travel route, mode of transport, number of trips, period for which accommodation is required and conference fee, or for digital conferences just conference fee.
c. It should be specified how the conference trip is related to the applicant’s ongoing research
3. Proofreading costs
a. The society covers costs for proofreading of scholarly work (articles and/or monographs) to be published in national or international scientific journals / series.
b. The society will give preference to works that are accepted for publication in an international peer reviewed journal / series
c. When the article / monograph has been accepted for publication, but before it has been published, an acceptance letter and invoice for the costs of proofreading of the article / monograph are to be sent to the secretary of the society, Blaženka Scheuer.
