Innovation för den moderna mannen

Purpose: The goal is to see what an innovation process can make for a package and learn to ron a development project with multiple stakeholders. Theory: The theory chapter strives to provide a picture of how the package works. What factoTs are important and what more a package can offer than just protection for the product? Describe how an innovation process can help a development process and exp

Hadronic potentials from effective field theories

We construct hadronic potentials that describe the spectrum and decays of electromagnetic bound states of hadrons, and are consistent with Chiral Perturbation Theory. This procedure enables one to clarify the status of the calculations-based on potential models-of the electromagnetic corrections to the observables of hadronic atoms and to the strong scattering amplitudes at low energy.

The geometry of fractional D1-branes

We find explicit solutions of type IIB string theory on R-4/Z(2) corresponding to the classical geometry of fractional D1-branes. From the supergravity solution obtained, we capture perturbative information about the running of the coupling constant and the metric on the moduli space of N = 4, D = 2 super Yang-Mills.

Small x, Saturation, and Diffraction in Collisions with Electrons, Protons and Nuclei

The Lund dipole model DIPSY is based on BFKL evolution and saturation. It can be applied to collisions between electrons, protons, and nuclei. In this paper, I present some recent results for exclusive final states in inelastic collisions, a method to generate final states in diffractive excitation, and some results for collisions with nuclei.

Relations at order p(6) in chiral perturbation theory

We report on a search of relations valid at order p(6) in Chiral Perturbation Theory. We have found relations between pi, pi K scattering, K-l4 decays, masses and decay constants and scalar and vector formfactors. In this paper we give the relations and a first numerical check of them.

ColorFull: a C plus plus library for calculations in SU(Nc) color space

ColorFull, a C++ package for treating QCD color structure, is presented. ColorFull, which utilizes the trace basis approach, is intended for interfacing with event generators, but can also be used as a stand-alone package for squaring QCD amplitudes, calculating interferences, and describing the effect of gluon emission and gluon exchange.

ThePEG, PYTHIA7, HERWIG ++ and ARIADNE

I present the status of the T(HE)PEG project for creating a common platform for implementing C++ event generators. I also describe briefly the status of the new versions of P-YTHIA, (HERWIG) and A(RIADNE) which are implemented using this framework. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

QCD aspects of leptoquark production at HERA

If a leptoquark is produced at HERA as a narrow resonance, various effects tend to broaden the measurable mass distribution considerably. These effects are discussed here, with special emphasis on initial- and final-state QCD radiation. A proper understanding is important to assess the significance of data and to devise strategies for better mass reconstruction.

Large extra dimensions in rare decays

The prospect of experimental verification of the large extra dimension scenario in rare decays is discussed. The case of J/ψ and γ to photon + missing energy is calculated in detail, and it is shown that the limit on the compactification scale MS lies at present in the ten GeV range. In contrast to the quarkonium systems, signals in Kaon and Pion decays will be small.

NLOX, a one-loop provider for Standard Model processes

NLOX is a computer program for calculations in high-energy particle physics. It provides fully renormalized scattering matrix elements in the Standard Model of particle physics, up to one-loop accuracy for all possible coupling-power combinations in the strong and electroweak couplings, and for processes with up to six external particles.

Disentangling soft and collinear effects in QCD parton showers

We introduce a method for the separation of soft and collinear logarithms in QCD parton evolution at O(αs2) and at leading color. Using an implementation of the technique in the dire parton shower, we analyze the numerical impact of genuine triple-collinear corrections from quark pair emission in e+e-→ hadrons.

Hello Petter Pilesjö, Head of Department!

Petter Pilesjö is the Head of Department at the Department for Earth and Environmental Studies (MGeo). We talk to Petter about his role and responsibilities, and ask him how he is feeling about the new institution after it's first months of existence. Hi Petter! You are the head of a department that is now four months old. How do you feel about MGeo right now?“I am very pleased with how things are

The Meridian S01E03 : Exoplanetary atmospheres on World Space Week

In this third episode of the podcast Nic and Rebecca invite Jens Hoeijmakers to the mic and chat to him about ultra-hot Jupiters and their atmospheres. Thereafter they take a closer look at a comet, which is named after the its two discoverers: Michel Giacobini and Ernst Zinner.
