SASI07

SASI07: Circular Economy – Managing Materials Sustainably The SASI07 Circular Economy – Managing Materials Sustainably an online course focusing on Circular Economy (CE); what CE is and how its emergence can be facilitated as the result of choices and strategies by suppliers, designers, businesses, policymakers, and all of us as consumers. How can we create a circular economy through sustainable m

Abundances of vanadium and bromine in 3 Centauri A - Additional odd-Z anomalies

We report abundance excesses of 1.2 and 2.6 dex, respectively, for vanadium and bromine in the hot, peculiar star 3 Cen A. Abundances for these two odd-Z elements have not been previously reported for this star. Taken with previous work, they strengthen the case of the origin of the abundance peculiarities by diffusion.

From one president to the next one, at LundaEkonomerna

As Tova Mark’s presidency comes to an end, she is getting ready to hand over the reins to Agnes Ask. We got a chance to speak with both of them about the past year and expectations of what is to come. Tova, you had been very active in the student life and LundaEkonomerna ever since you started here in Lund. This last year you stepped it up a level and became president just in time for your 30 year

Validation of topology evolution in artificial neural networks

There is a problem with overtraining when applying Artificial Neural Networks to a classification problem. One factor that strongly influences the overtraining is the network topology. Understanding the role of the network topology is therefore important to enable the creation of more efficient Artificial Neural Networks.

Inclusion of Parton Distribution Functions in PYTHIA8

A selection of the latest and most frequently used PDFs is incorporated in Pythia8, including the MC-adapted PDFs from the MSTW and CTEQ collaborations. This thesis examines the differences in PDFs as well as the effect they have on results of simulations. The results are also compared to data collected by the CDF experiment.

Matching the electroweak penguins Q(7) and Q(8)

We report on recent advances on the computation of the matrix elements of the electroweak penguins Q(7) and Q(8) which are relevant for the DeltaI = 3/2 contribution to epsilon'(K) in the chiral limit. The matching of scale and scheme dependences between Wilson coefficients and these matrix elements is done analytically at NLO in alpha(S).

Baryon production in the string fragmentation picture

An improved version of the “pop-corn” model for baryon production in quark and gluon jets is presented. With a reduced number of parameters the model reproduces well both production rates for different baryon species and baryon momentum distributions. Predictions are presented for a set of baryon-antibaryon correlations.

One year of Galileo dust data from the Jovian system: 1996

The dust detector system onboard Galileo has recoding dust impacts incircumjovian space since the spacecraft was injected into a bound orbitabout Jupiter in December 1995. This is the sixth in a series of papersdedicated to presenting Galileo and Ulysses dust data. We present datafrom the Galileo dust instrument for the period January to December 1996when the spacecraft completed four orbits about

APOGEE Data and Spectral Analysis from SDSS Data Release 16 : Seven Years of Observations including First Results from APOGEE-South

The spectral analysis and data products in Data Release 16 (DR16; 2019 December) from the high-resolution near-infrared Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE)-2/Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS)-IV survey are described. Compared to the previous APOGEE data release (DR14; 2017 July), APOGEE DR16 includes about 200,000 new stellar spectra, of which 100,000 are from a new south

Carbon Abundance in the Milky Way Galaxy

Carbon is the fourth most abundant element after hydrogen, helium and oxygen. It is a product of stellar nucleosynthesis as well as it being an important bio signature for life; this makes the analysis of carbon very fundamental. The origin of carbon and the relative contributions from massive and low-to-intermediate mass stars in producing it is still under debate. The principal focus of this the

The Gaia-ESO Survey: processing FLAMES-UVES spectra

The Gaia-ESO Survey is a large public spectroscopic survey that aims to derive radial velocities and fundamental parameters of about 10(5) Milky Way stars in the field and in clusters. Observations are carried out with the multi-object optical spectrograph FLAMES, using simultaneously the medium-resolution (R similar to 20 000) GIRAFFE spectrograph and the high-resolution (R similar to 47 000) UVE
