Humans as a terrain - A connection between human terrain systems and neoliberalism

This thesis tries to connect how the human terrain system is a development of neoliberalism that anthropologists need to consider. I have explained how the history of anthropology has always have had a connection with the military. The problem with anthropology is that anthropologists need a consent from the informants that they use, and this is harder if they use ethnographical methods in a war z

UN's (in)consistency on gender?

The development discourse on the international agenda is currently dominated by the MDGs and the SDGs, which is why it is important to analyze them. In this thesis my main purpose was to understand whether there were any changes within the discourses of the criticism on the different development goals, when using a postcolonial feminist theory. I chose to study this criticism in order to understan

”Att förändra tankesätt i grunden”: hur hållbarhet diskuteras i jämställdhetsrelaterat förändringsarbete

This interview study is about applying a sustainability perspective on organizational change with focus on gender and gender equality questions. With the city of Malmö’s work with gender mainstreaming as an example, I have drawn conclusions about how sustainability can be created. I am using institutional ethnography as my method and I have conducted interviews with eight employees at Malmö’s city

Malmö och säkerhet - En diskursanalys

In Malmö today there is a situation, which is represented by a high rate of organized crime. Due to that situation there have been a large number of killings in the city, often associated with organized crime. These killings have lead to a negative debate about Malmö. And due to the negative focus on the debate surrounding Malmö I decided to evaluate how the discourse about Malmö is presented in t

Efter att ha undersökt både bergarten och de enskilda zirkonkornen i ljusmikroskop ocBaddeleyit is a zirconium oxide that normally is not found in silica rich environments, because it’s not stabile. It will rather react and form zircon. My paper will deal with an extreme case where the baddeleyit was found in a quartzite I the southernmost part of Ghana. Zircons with baddeleyit inclusions were found right above a contact with a deformed granite. After some studies on the rock and

Regional frihandel med miljöhänsyn? En studie av regionala frihandelsavtals förhållningssätt till konflikten med miljön

The relationship between free trade and the environment is often considered conflicting and the debates surrounding it are infected. My thesis deal with this conflict and how environmental concerns are integrated in three regional free trade agreements, North American Free Trade Agreement, The common market of the southern cone (MERCOSUR) and Southern African Development Community (SADC). ...not one indigenous family was not affected by the forcible removals. Which were the reasons behind the removal of Aboriginal children?

The purpose of this essay was to investigate why the Australian government, up until the early 1970s, decided to remove Aboriginal children from their families and to determine if this practice was more generally accepted by Western society. My main questions were: which were the reasons the Australian government chose to remove Aboriginal children from their families and which were the reasons fo

Progression in Glaucoma

The treatment of glaucoma is focused on reducing the intraocular pressure to a level at which progression is impeded. A diagnosis of glaucoma is not considered certain until progression is confirmed, and thus detecting progression is a central aspect in both the diagnosing and the monitoring of glaucoma patients. Progression can be identified either through examination of either functional changes
