The Swedish criminal procedure law is characterized by the principle of free examination of evidence, a general legal principle that includes both free presentation of evidence and free evaluation of evidence. By the principle of free presentation of evidence follows that all evidence, regardless of how the evidence came to light, may be used against a suspect in a criminal trial. This means that

Feasibility of single time point dosimetry during 177Lu-PSMA-617 treatments of prostate cancer

Introduction: Standard dosimetry methods for radionuclide therapies re- quire imaging at multiple time points post injection. An alternative method has been presented in the literature that uses previously acquired pharma- cokinetic data to create so-called dose factors. Multiplying the dose factors with an activity concentration (Bq/ml) taken from a single time point mea- surement results in an e

New Chief Veterinarian: Research must be ethically defensible and thus contribute to societal acceptance

Our new Chief Veterinarian has landed. Research has always attracted her and the her new job means that she will have influence on strategic issues that require wise solutions. She is looking forward to the challenges. On a new job since the first of October, as Chief Veterinarian at Medfak, how does it feel? "It feels very exciting because it is a job where I get to be part of the changing enviro

Lake ecosystem responses to catchment disturbance and airborne pollution: an 800-year perspective in southern Sweden

Sediment sequences spanning the last 800 years from two small lakes in the south Swedish uplands were explored for assessment of effects of changing human population, local land-use practices and airborne pollution on lake-ecosystem functioning and resilience. Variations in nutrient cycling and deposition of lithogenic elements were studied, using a multi-proxy stratigraphic approach. Carbon and n

Influence of Varying Electric Light Distribution on Melanopic Equivalent Daylight Illuminance and Lighting Energy Use

Human beings in modern society spend more than 90% of their time indoors to live, work, and socialize. To improve health, quality of life and task performance, integrative lighting is designed to give the right light at the right time at the eye to stimulate circadian entrainment. Current designs for integrative lighting consider rooms as black boxes, overlooking the contribution of daylight to th

Mate detection in a territorial butterfly-the effect of background and luminance contrast

Many animals search for potential mates or prey using a perch-and-sally strategy. The success of such a strategy will depend on factors that affect the observer's ability to detect a passing resource item. Intrinsic factors (e.g., eye structure and physiology) have received much recent attention, but less is known about effects on object detection in nature and extrinsic factors such as size, colo

Color for the dead, status for the living

Color affects us both consciously and subconsciously, and can create actions and reactions: biological (colorful males to attract females in the animal world), psychological (the use of warm colors or cool colors to effect a specific mood), symbolic (specific colors for weddings and mourning), religious (blue, saffron), emotional (expressionism in art), social (pink and blue infant clothing) or pu

Agreement with Collective Nouns in English

Denna variation ses i exemplen nedThis thesis concerns agreement with collective nouns in American, British and Australian English. It is based on material from newspaper corpora and spoken corpora. The findings suggest that dialectal, stylistic, diachronic, syntactic and semantic factors interact in the selection of singular and plural agreement. It was shown that there are differences between regional varieties, between speech a

Highly mobile insectivorous swifts perform multiple intra-tropical migrations to exploit an asynchronous African phenology

With timely allocated movement phases, mobile organisms can match their space-use with the seasonality of the environment and thereby optimise their resource utilisation over time. Long-distance avian migrants are known to move with the seasonal dynamics on an annual basis, but how individuals respond to seasonality within their tropical non-breeding range has been less studied. Here we analyse th

Where Science Meets Art: Inside Lund Stem Cell Center's 2024 Image Competition

There comes a point in every researcher's work when the data goes beyond numbers and charts, transforming into something visually captivating. The annual Image Competition held by the Lund Stem Cell Center celebrates these moments, showcasing images that turn scientific discoveries and experiments into works of art. Today, we are pleased to present the images from our 2024 Image Competition. Combi

Quantum Automating TC0-Frege Is LWE-Hard

We prove the first hardness results against efficient proof search by quantum algorithms. We show that under Learning with Errors (LWE), the standard lattice-based cryptographic assumption, no quantum algorithm can weakly automate TC0-Frege. This extends the line of results of Krajíček and Pudlák (Information and Computation, 1998), Bonet, Pitassi, and Raz (FOCS, 1997), and Bonet, Domingo, Gavaldà

Improved iterative decoding of QC-MDPC codes in the McEliece public key cryptosystem

We improve iterative decoding of the moderate density parity-check codes, recently suggested as code candidates in the McEliece public key cryptosystem. In case of bit-flipping (BF) decoder failure, the code parity-check matrix is extended by adding auxiliary variable nodes based on reliability information from the BF decoder. Then iterative decoding is applied to the extended parity-check matrix.

Some Cryptanalytic and Coding-Theoretic Applications of a Soft Stern Algorithm

Using the class of information set decoding algorithms is the best known way of decoding general codes, i.e. codes that admit no special structure, in the Hamming metric. The Stern algorithm is the origin of the most efficient algorithms in this class. We consider the same decoding problem but for a channel with soft information. We give a version of the Stern algorithm for a channel with soft inf

On the Asymptotics of Solving the LWE Problem Using Coded-BKW with Sieving

The Learning with Errors problem (LWE) has become a central topic in recent cryptographic research. In this paper, we present a new solving algorithm combining important ideas from previous work on improving the Blum-Kalai-Wasserman (BKW) algorithm and ideas from sieving in lattices. The new algorithm is analyzed and demonstrates an improved asymptotic performance. For the Regev parameters $q=n^2$
