Is the decline of the increasing incidence of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in Sweden and other countries a result of cancer preventive measures?

Is the decline of the increasing incidence of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) in Sweden and other countries a result of cancer preventive measures? The yearly age-standardized incidence of NHL increased significantly in Sweden during 1971-1990, for men an average of 3.2% and for women 3.1%. The corresponding figures for 1991-2000 were -0.8% and -0.2%, respectively. A decline of the increasing incidence

Vombsänkan i sydöstra Skåne undersökts med galvanisk resistivitetsmätning (ERT) och Transient Elektronmagnetisk Sondering (TEM)Geophysical methods can create 2D- and 3D-models that reflects the geology. These models can be used as a tool for mapping groundwater resources. Four profiles, located in Vombsänkan in southeastern Skåne, have been investigated with Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) and ground-based Transient Electromagnetic Soundings (TEM) as a study of the two methods. The resistivity profiles from the g

Ambient pressure XPS

Summary Electron spectroscopy has provided much of our current knowledge on the chemical and physical processes involved in the complex interactions between a solid surface and its surroundings. Such processes are for example important for surface catalysis, corrosion and thin film growth. As the surface state depends strongly on its environment, it is vital that such studies are performed under re

52 Million SEK goes to uncovering genetic drivers of Parkinson’s Disease

A team of international researchers led by Professor Johan Jakobsson at Lund University has secured a 52 million SEK grant from the Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s (ASAP) initiative, in partnership with the Michael J Fox Foundation to investigate how mobile genetic elements —commonly referred to as "jumping genes"—contribute to neuroinflammation and the progression of Parkinson’s disease. This article is over 5 years old, and the information may therefore be outdated. Lina Ejlertsson, a doctoral student in Public Health at Lund University, believes that there is a classic approach to working with and measuring health in workplaces through sick leave rates, productivity and efficiency. – Most often, rehabilitative measures or preventative work are only undertaken after employees bec

IPCC Synthesis Report provides common conclusion about the state of knowledge on climate change

During the past week, 350 delegates from 120 countries have gathered in Copenhagen, to go through and come to a common conclusion about the state of knowledge on climate change. The result was finalized as a synthesis report which states that the human influence on the climate system is clear and recent anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases are the highest in history. But the report also sta
