Chiral Expansion of Nucleon PDF at x similar to m(pi)/M-N

Based on the chiral perturbation theory, we investigate the low-energy dynamics of nucleon parton distributions. We show that in different regions of the momentum fraction x the chiral expansion is significantly different. For nucleon parton distributions these regions are characterized by x similar to 1, x similar to m(pi)/M-N and x similar to (m(pi)/M-N)(2). We derive extended counting rules for

Onset of color decoherence for soft gluon radiation in a medium

We report on recent studies of the phenomenon of color decoherence in jets in QCD media. The effect is most clearly observed in the radiation pattern of a quark-antiquark antenna, created in the same quantum state, traversing a dense color deconfined plasma. Multiple scattering with the medium color charges gradually destroys the coherence of the antenna. In the limit of opaque media, this ultimat

Dual-color decompositions at one-loop level in Yang-Mills theory

In this work we extend two dual color decompositions of Yang-Mills amplitude to one-loop level. Starting from double-copy expression we translate the Yang-Mills integrand into the dual Del Duca-Dixon-Maltoni formulation and subsequently to the dual color-ordered formula. The dual trace factors are obtained after simultaneously solving the one-loop Kleiss-Kuijf relations, the reflection relation, a

Study of the linked dipole chain model in heavy quark production at the Tevatron

We present calculations of charm and beauty production at Tevatron within the framework of k(T)-factorization, using the unintegrated gluon distributions as obtained from the Linked Dipole Chain model. The analysis covers transverse momentum and rapidity distributions and the azimuthal correlations between b and (b) over bar quarks (or rather muons from their decay) which are powerful tests for th

Chiral symmetry and charmonium decays to two pseudoscalars

We apply hard pion Chiral Perturbation Theory to charmonium decays to pi pi, KK and eta eta. We first discuss why we expect to be able to provide results for the chiral logarithms in chi(c0) and chi(c2) decays to two pseudoscalars while for the decays from J/psi, psi(nS) and chi(c1) no simple prediction is possible. The leading chiral logarithm turns out to be absent for chi(c0), chi(c2) -> PP. Th

Radiative Corrections Beyond the Soft-Photon Approximation

This thesis calculates the bremsstrahlung correction beyond the soft-photon approximation for the decay ω → π0 l+ l- . The effect of the radiative corrections on the extraction of the transition form factor from data is investigated. Four different form-factor mod- els are used to compute corrections: vector-meson dominance, lowest-meson dominance, tree-level, and two-hadron saturation. The experi

Event Geometry and Anisotropic Flow in Proton-Proton Collisions

We seek to better understand the relationship between an anisotropic distribution of partons in the initial state of pp-collisions and the amount of elliptic flow. We do this through the implementation of a new model that is based in generating positions for multiparton interactions from the uneven volume created by the overlap of two Gaussians. We then examine how this asymmetric probability dens

Jets in QCD media: From color coherence to decoherence

We investigate soft gluon radiation off a quark-antiquark antenna in both color singlet and octet configurations traversing a dense medium. We demonstrate that, in both cases, multiple scatterings lead to a gradual decoherence of the antenna radiation as a function of the medium density. In particular, in the limit of a completely opaque medium, total decoherence is obtained, i.e., the quark and t

The relation between the Good-Walker and triple-regge formalisms for diffractive excitation

In this Letter we analyze the relation between the triple-pomeron and Good-Walker formalism's for diffractive excitation in DIS and hadronic collisions. In both approaches gap events are interpreted as the shadow of absorption into inelastic channels. We here argue that the two formalisms are just different views of the same phenomenon. We first demonstrate how this relation works in a simple toy

Analytical results for hadronic contributions to the muon g−2

This talk discusses two analytical calculations relevant for the Standard Model calculation of the muon g−2. The first part is the recent derivation of the quark-loop as the first term in a well-defined operator-product expansion for the short-distance part of the hadronic light-by-light contribution, as well as the calculation of the next term. The second part is the calculation of finite volume

Lepton-flavour violation in hadronic tau decays and l-τ conversion in nuclei

Within the Standard Model Effective Field Theory framework, with operators up to dimension 6, we perform a model-independent analysis of the lepton-flavour-violating processes involving tau leptons. Namely, we study hadronic tau decays and l-t conversion in nuclei (l = e, µ). Based on available experimental limits, we establish constraints on the Wilson coefficients of the operators contributing t

PYTHIA version 7-0.0 - a proof-of-concept version

This document describes the first proof-of-concept version of the PYTHIA7 program. PYTHIA7 is a complete re-write of the PYTHIA program in C++. It is mainly intended to be a replacement for the `Lund' family of event generators, but is also a framework with a structure suitable for implementing any event generator model. In this document, the structure of the program is presented both from the use

MFA Student Interview Series, part VI: Amanda Moberg and Alice Ryne

Amanda Moberg In Amanda Moberg´s MFA exhibition ”The paths are a pattern only the weaves can see” I was meet by numerous works, all navigating around weaving as a focus point. The works seemed to be engaged with how the notion of weaving comes from language itself and how language can be shifted into new meanings, forms and questions. In French for example, text and textile share the same etymolog

Likabehandling av aktieägare anses ligga i bolagsformens grundidé om att öka aktieägarnas investerade kaThis paper investigates whether the field of law regarding equal treatment of shareholders, when targeting issues, is sufficiently clear. It also adresses if the need of minor shareholders’ protection since the recent preparatory work and the recommendation by Kollegiet for swedish corporate finance. Equal treatment of shareholders is a basic concept of the limited company. This concept is to inc

Idas nya teleskop

Ida has a received a new telescope from her grandfather and now she wants to learn how to use it. She meets up with Malin, Sara and Hanna late at night and together they learn to navigate the night sky and locate some planets, nebulae and galaxies.
