Lund University Bioimaging Center

Our mission is to establish a major trans-faculty bio-imaging center at Lund University (Lund University Bioimaging Center), combining knowledge in the fields of medical physics, preclinical and clinical medicine, chemistry, technology and applied mathematics in order to develop imaging methods for the advanced study of human morphology, cellular metabolism and physiological function in health and

LU-ATMP: Lunds universitets centrum för avancerade terapier

Sweden's ATMP ecosystem is rapidly expanding, solidifying its place as a key player in Europe. Currently ranking among the top three countries among the EU9 for identified therapeutic ATMP companies, Sweden's strategic investments are further reinforcing its leadership (MSC 2020). This includes ongoing initiatives to establish industrial-scale ATMP manufacturing capabilities, enhancing the country

Pre-contrast T1 and cartilage thickness as confounding factors in dGEMRIC when evaluating human cartilage adaptation to physical activity

Background: The dGEMRIC (delayed Gadolinium-Enhanced MRI of Cartilage) technique has been used in numerous studies for quantitative in vivo evaluation of the relative glycosaminoglycan (GAG) content in cartilage. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of pre-contrast T1 and cartilage thickness when assessing knee joint cartilage quality with dGEMRIC. Methods: Cartilage thickness

Making warming worlds : Future making between climate politics and science – The case of the Structured Expert Dialogue

The Long-Term Global Goal (LTGG) is the focal point for addressing future climate change. This paper explores a specific institutional context: the Structured Expert Dialogue (SED) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Set up as a platform for interaction between experts and UN negotiators, the SED is a site where scientific information about the LTGG and net-zero was translat

Scaling of high-energy elastic scattering and the observation of odderon

We provide a statistically significant observation of the elusive Odderon exchange, based on novel and model-independent analysis of the scaling properties of the differential cross sections of elastic pp and pp scattering in the TeV energy range. We report the statistical significance of the observed Odderon signal at the level of 6.26 σ.

Hand fracture epidemiology and etiology in children - Time trends in Malmö, Sweden, during six decades

Background: The aim of this study was to describe hand fracture epidemiology/etiology in city children and describe time trend during six decades. Patients and methods: A single hospital serves the entire city population of 271,271 (year 2005). Through the hospital medical and radiological archives, we collected epidemiology and etiology data concerning pediatric (age < 16 years) hand fractures in

Multidimensional microstructure imaging

In diffusion MRI (dMRI), images are sensitised to water diffusion by the application of magnetic field gradients. Cell membranes hinder the diffusional motion and thereby contribute to the contrast in dMRI. Thus, the diffusion of water molecules is used a probe of tissue microstructure. Data from dMRI is often analysed using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), which yields image biomarkers that reflec

Plant-soil-herbivore interactions in a high Arctic wetland - Feedbacks to the carbon cycle

Dette skyldes blandt andet den langsomme omsætning af organiske materiale på grund af de kolde forhold, men også de store mængdArctic ecosystems hold massive amounts of the global carbon in their soils and are of great importance for the global terrestrial exchange of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. The arctic region has in general been acting as a C sink for the past 10000 years, however with climate change the C balance in some areas is shifting towards becoming a C source. Herbivory are an important part of many ec

Nordens förhandlare? Vem är det? - En studie om den nationella kulturens påverkan på svenska dotterbolags organisationsstruktur vid etablering i Danmark

Companies today are forced to expand and position outside their borders. The Öresund region is a common labor market for Swedes and Danes. Since 2000, with the opening of the Öresund Bridge, circumstances have improved for the region's business climate which is in a strong growth. Both Swedish and Danish companies are working across borders to take advantage of the region's dynamic and suc

Feasibility of EBUS-TBNA for histopathological and molecular diagnostics of NSCLC-A retrospective single-center experience

Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is a minimally invasive bronchoscopic procedure, well established as a diagnostic modality of first choice for diagnosis and staging of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The therapeutic decisions for advanced NSCLC require comprehensive profiling of actionable mutations, which is currently considered to be an essential
