Accelerated lifetime testing of reinforced polymer gears

The main advantages of polymer gears in comparison to metal gears are low manufacturing costs for mass production, vibration damping and no need for lubricant. In the literature and guidelines, the allowable gear endurance limits for bending and contact stresses are mainly given for polyamides (PA) and polyacetals (POM). The large number of suitable polymer gear materials is available, but the sta

Recent Trends in Unified Chromatography- Applications, Challenges, and Future Perspectives

Background: The literature is small, and terminology varies. Main challenges are consistent with recent studies: keeping the CO2 ® modifier mobile phase single phase, managing viscosity/pressure at high percentage modifier, minimizing extra-column and strong dil

Lack of visual field improvement after initiation of intraocular pressure reducing treatment in the early manifest glaucoma trial

PURPOSE. We evaluate how visual fields are affected by the initiation of IOP-reducing therapy in previously untreated glaucoma individuals. METHODS. Qualifying individuals with newly diagnosed glaucoma having normal to moderately elevated IOP were prospectively randomized either to IOP-reducing therapy or to no treatment. Before randomization, individuals underwent repeatedly Standard Automated Pe

Management of non-specific thoracic spine pain: a cross-sectional study among physiotherapists

Background: The thoracic area has mainly been neglected in research compared to the lumbar and cervical regions. No clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for non-specific thoracic spine pain (TSP) have been compiled. Therefore, it can be argued that the absence of specific CPGs raises questions about the management of non-specific TSP. Hence, this study aimed at determining the management of non-spe

Gendered Consumption and Production: Understanding the Gender/Sustainability Nexus in the Swedish Fashion Industry

My research is concerned with the co-optation of sustainability, feminism, and social justice within and by the fast fashion industry in Sweden. This stems from a desire to understand the acceleration of sustainability discourse and narratives built by brands (through communication, advertisement, marketing, and sustainability reporting) and how this shapes consumption. I argue that the dominating

The perspective of children on factors influencing their participation in perioperative care

Aims and objectives: To describe the experiences of participation in perioperative care of 8- to 11-year-old children. Background: All children have the right to participate in decisions that affect them and have the right to express their views in all matters that concern them. Allowing children to be involved in their perioperative care can make a major difference in terms of their well-being by

Evaluating the effect of digital primary care on antibiotic prescription : Evidence using Swedish register data

Background: The growing use of digital primary care consultations has led to concerns about resource use, equity and quality. One of these is how it affects antibiotic prescription. Differences in ease of access for patients and available diagnostic information for the prescribing physicians are reasons to believe prescription rates may be affected. Objectives: We estimated differences in antibiot

Integrating data and analysis technologies within leading environmental research infrastructures : Challenges and approaches

When researchers analyze data, it typically requires significant effort in data preparation to make the data analysis ready. This often involves cleaning, pre-processing, harmonizing, or integrating data from one or multiple sources and placing them into a computational environment in a form suitable for analysis. Research infrastructures and their data repositories host data and make them availab

Invasive plant species and competition for pollinators

They have therefore during the last decades gotten more attention and are now recognised as one of the major threats to biodiversity worldwide. When invasive plants establish in an area, one concern is that their presence can af

Det fjäThe focus of this dissertation is on organizational change in four industrial corporations. A special emphasisis placed upon the symbolic and rhetorical aspects when changing organizations. Main concepts in the study are symbolic management and management of meaning. Two main areas are discussed in the dissertation. Firstly, how the new organizational meaning is constructed or produced. Secondly,

Accessibility indices and planning theory

Accessibility is an important factor in land-use planning and several methods have been developed to calculate and to predict it. Nevertheless, it is seldom applied in planning situations, maybe because many land-use planners and elected officials lack the knowledge and resources needed to use traffic models. Consequently, accessibility is often used as a concept and a goal in daily planning, but

Design and development of a mobile GIS application for municipal field work

Currently, Swedish municipalities generally use paper maps to conduct field work. A Mobile GIS (geographical information system) application could be a useful tool when conducting field work and field inventory work. In this master thesis, such an application has been developed. The application was developed for the municipality in Örebro and is called iSurvey. When developing a mobile application
