Engineering of pyranose 2-oxidase: Improvement for biofuel cell and food applications through semi-rational protein design

Pyranose 2-oxidase (P20x) has several proposed biotechnological applications such as a bio-component in biofuel cells or for carbohydrate transformations. To improve some of the catalytic properties of P20x from Trametes multicolor, we selected a semi-rational approach of enzyme engineering, saturation mutagenesis of active-site residues and subsequent screening of mutant libraries for improved ac

The molecular basis of human igg-mediated enhancement of C4b-binding protein recruitment to group a streptococcus

Streptococcus pyogenes infects over 700 million people worldwide annually. Immune evasion strategies employed by the bacteria include binding of the complement inhibitors, C4b-binding protein (C4BP) and Factor H in a human-specific manner. We recently showed that human IgG increased C4BP binding to the bacterial surface, which promoted streptococcal immune evasion and increased mortality in mice.

What Do We See Through the Service-Dominant Lens? Insights from a Swedish Public Service Case

The service-dominant logic in the context of public services has only previously been studied empirically to a very limited degree. The purpose of this article is to provide knowledge of what the theory of service-dominant logic makes visible in public service practice. The empirical material is case concerning a new public service organisation – a service centre. New Study Reveals the Key Drivers of Climate Policy Support

Why do some people strongly back climate action while others do not? A new international study by LUCSUS researcher Felix Schulz and Christian Bretter, University of Queensland, finds that the answer may be simpler than previously thought. The researchers analysed survey data from nearly 12,000 people across six countries. They discovered that three well-known explanations of environmental behavio

Could you be more specific? Examples as crucial rhetorical tools in discourse on 'others'.

In everyday conversations, we frequently give an example. Yet this is seldom accompanied by any reflection on what is going on when we do so. This report tries to contribute such a reflection. It shows how examples may be marked and used in a particular discourse: oral discourse on others. The empirical material is a transcribed focus group interview with a group of Swedish students, engaged in di

Trade Secrets, Big data and Artificial Intelligence Innovation: a Legal Oxymoron?

This chapter will analyse the Trade secret Directive from a technological informed legal perspective, looking at the possibilities and scope of protection that it offers for knowledge based activities and business models. It opens by restating the basic yet important fact that “Information is power”. Asymmetries in information are a fundamental transaction cost and in this sense informational qual

Paul's Argumentation in Galatians : A Pragma-dialectical Analysis of Gal. 3.1–5.12

As one of the most important texts of the apostle Paul, Galatians offers a goodstarting-point for an investigation of Paul’s argumentation. The letter is polemical and contains a substantial amount of argumentative passages. Paul evidently wanted to persuade by using the best arguments possible to convince his addressees. Although the argumentation of Paul is often an issue within New Testament ex
