Climate change and increasing urbanization gives societies great challenges in managing urban planning for a sustainable future. Urbanization aggravates floods by increasing the amount of impermeable surfaces and by modifying flow routes. Resilience is the capability to recover from a stress and high resilience is seen as the goal of a healthy development. By including the concept of resilience inEvery year billions of people get affected by floods and the economic losses are among the highest when it comes to natural disasters. Depending on your social class the consequences of a flood can vary greatly. An urban flood resilience index, S-FRESI, can be used to identify extra sensitive areas and strengthen these neighborhoods to create a more resilient society.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to understand how and why companies apply circular business models. It gives valuable insights for other companies and policy makers who can use this study to make new regulations to stimulate the circular economy.
