Vi vill utveckla ny sepsisbehandling med läkemedel och dialys som tar sikte på substanser from bakterierna. I labbet studerar vi inflammatoriska svar på proteiner från streptokocker hos immunceller och blodkärl. This leads to organ failure and in the worst cases septic shock, with 40-70 % mortality. We want to develop sepsis treatment by targeting bacterial products with specific drugs and by dialysis adsorbing the products. We work in environments ranging from the Arctic to the Tropics, and engage both with pristine and managed ecosystems.
