Colonisation of extragenital sites by Candida in women with recurrent vulvovaginal candidosis.
First stars. I. The extreme r-element rich, iron-poor halo giant CS31082-001. Implications for the r--process site(s) and radioactive cosmochronology
We present a high-resolution ( R= 75 000, S/ N ) spectroscopic analysis of the bright ( V= 11.7), extreme halo giant CS 31082-001([Fe/H] = -2.9), obtained in an ESO-VLT Large Programme dedicated to very metal-poor stars. We find CS 31082-001 to be extremely rich in r-process elements, comparable in this respect only to the similarly metal-poor, but carbon-enriched, giant CS 22892-052. As a result

beta 1 Integrin and alpha-dystroglycan binding sites are localized to different laminin-G-domain-like (LG) modules within the laminin alpha 5 chain G domain
Laminins are a group of extracellular-matrix proteins important in development and disease. They are heterotrimers, and specific domains in the different chains have specialized functions. The G domain of the alpha5 chain has now been produced in transfected mammalian cells as single modules and two tandem arrays, alpha5LG1-3 and alpha5LG4-5 (LG is laminin G domain-like.). Using these fragments we

Underwater ERT surveying in water with resistivity layering with example of application to site investigation for a rock tunnel in central Stockholm
We present an approach to underwater electrical resistivity tomography surveying under conditions with several water layers with different resistivity in the water above the electrode layout. The approach is verified against a synthetic model example and tested in full scale on data from a field survey. The field survey was carried out in central Stockholm as part of pre-investigations for a new m

Post-socialist moral economies of consumption as socially embedded sites of moral tension
Consumption was one of the spheres of everyday life shaken and remoulded by the collapse of socialist regimes at the end of the 20th century. Especially in times of rapid change, a moral economies lens is a fruitful means to understand the contentious moral landscape and moral tensions that pervade consumption behaviour, norms and discourse. Important areas of consideration in post-socialist socie

A transformation of the Memorial Site in Katyn
In the wake of the deterioration of relations between modern Russia and Poland, the Katyn memorial has become a scene for the contestation of historical memory. In order to play down the 1940 executions of Polish military officers in Katyn, the Russian government has granted belated official recognition to 8,000 victims of Stalinism in the Smolensk region. After being brushed under the carpet in t

AfsK-Mediated Site-Specific Phosphorylation Regulates DnaA Initiator Protein Activity in Streptomyces coelicolor
In all organisms, chromosome replication is regulated mainly at the initiation step. Most of the knowledge about the mechanisms that regulate replication initiation in bacteria has come from studies on rod-shaped bacteria, such as Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilisStreptomyces is a bacterial genus that is characterized by distinctive features and a complex life cycle that shares some propertie
