The faculty’s journey towards Science Village at Brunnshög

It is a catalyst that will modernise the Faculty of Science, both at Brunnshög and Sölvegatan. Dean Sven Lidin may have become “nearsighted, flabby and middle-aged” during his ten years in symbiosis with Science Village, but his future visions are more vital than ever. It is one of those pale September mornings when there is one online meeting after another. But a few minutes after 11:00, the dean

Historically high food prices made us eat less fruit and vegetables

In 2022–2023, food prices in Sweden rose by 25 per cent. But it wasn't just households' wallets that were hit hard by the price increases – public health was too. Swedish consumers ate less dietary fibre, fruit and vegetables, according to a new report from Lund University. The text below was originally published as a press release by Amanda Lindström on Lund University’s international website on

The next-door neighbour whose home you’ve never been inside. That was how Jason Diakité, also known as hip hop artist Timbuktu, felt about the University while growing up in Lund. Today, he feels differently – having been awarded an honorary doctorate and now taking his seat as one of LU’s external Cultural Council members. Inside the historic Old Bishop’s House, final preparations are underway fo

Stiffer tumour tissue causes cancer to spread more quickly

The stiffness of tumour tissue plays a role in how cancer spreads. Furthermore, stiff tumour tissue leaves traces in the affected cells. This is shown by two recent research studies from Lund University. "This helps us to better understand how the mechanical properties of the tumour microenvironment actively drive cancer development and spread,” says Vinay Swaminathan, senior lecturer at Lund Univ
