FRAGMENTA

Amphora fragments for the dining table Fragmenta is a set of dining table accessories inspired by amphora fragments. The individual objects, which are reinterpretations of different pieces of a broken amphora, are given new functions for an intriguing dining setting. With their archetypical and fragmentary character, they metaphorically transform the table in an archaeological site. The set is tho

This paper presents a two-phase heuristic methodology aimed at the reconfiguration of a radial distribution network with the objective of minimizing the computational time. In the preliminary phase of the operation, all network switches are in a closed state, and it is proposed that a subsequent switch opening methodology be employed to achieve a configuration that approximates optimal radial char

In multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) systems, the non-linear behavior of the power amplifiers (PAs) may cause degradation of the linear precoding schemes dealing with interference between user equipments (UEs), e.g., the zero-forcing (ZF) precoder. One way to minimize this effect is to use digital-pre-distortion (DPD) modules to linearize the PAs. However, using perfect DPD modul

Accurate prediction of crack growth and strength in glued timber joints and components can be achieved by using cohesive laws in constitutive models. These laws represent the traction-separation relationship that measures the stress transmitted between crack faces in a cohesive zone, and can be obtained directly from experiments. However, studies on measuring the cohesive laws of wood adhesive bon

The building sector accounts for a significant portion of global final energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, demonstrating the need to find low-carbon alternatives to new construction. Adaptive reuse offers a sustainable alternative to new construction, yet early-stage assessments of reuse potential often rely on surface-level metrics, failing to consider a building's internal spatial logic. In this paper, we investigate ways to mitigate the problem of decoder error propagation (DEP) in sliding window decoding (SWD) of protograph-based spatially coupled low-density parity-check (SC-LDPC) codes for large frame length or streaming applications. In particular, in order to avoid subdividing a long frame into a series of shorter frames by using termination to combat DEP, we consider alteri
