Reading Course Classical Sociological Theories
Department of Sociology Lund University Classical Sociological Theories 7.5 credits Instructors and examiners: Bo Isenberg a. Course description: A third level (PhD) “reading course” does not involve any teaching and typically only has one or a few participants taking part in the course. A reading course for 7,5 credits should cover an ambitious and demanding reading material, which exact page num

Revisiting the construct and assessment of industrial relevance in software engineering research within
Industrial relevance is essential for an applied research area like software engineering. However, it is unclear how to achieve industrial relevance and how we communicate and assess it. We propose a reasoning framework to support the design, reporting, and assessment of research for industrial relevance.Industrial relevance is essential for an applied research area like software engineering. Integrating large language models for improved failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) : a framework and case study
The manual execution of failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) is time-consuming and error-prone. This article presents an approach in which large language models (LLMs) are integrated into FMEA. LLMs improve and accelerate FMEA with human in the loop. The discussion looks at software tools for FMEA and emphasizes that the tools must be tailored to the needs of the company. Our framework combine
On the Application of Background Oriented Schlieren to a Transonic Low-Reynolds Turbine Cascade
Qualitative and quantitative visualizations of transonic turbomachinery flows provide essential information on compressibility and Mach number effects on boundary layer development, shock-boundary layer interactions (SBLI) and trailing edge flows. Background Oriented Schlieren (BOS) is a relatively new optical technique that allows capturing unsteady density gradient fields through turbomachinery
Jet quenching parameter in QCD kinetic theory
We study the jet quenching parameter q^ in a nonequilibrium plasma using the QCD effective kinetic theory. We discuss subleading terms at large jet momentum p, show that our expression for q^ reproduces thermal results at small and large transverse momentum cutoffs for infinite p, and construct an interpolation between these limits to be used in phenomenological applications. Using simple nonequil
Using Gaze Transition Entropy to Detect Classroom Discourse in a Virtual Reality Classroom
This paper explores gaze entropy as a metric for detecting classroom discourse events in a virtual reality (VR) classroom. Using data from a laboratory experiment with N = 240 secondary school students, we distinguished between events of teacher-centered classroom discourse (question, hand raising, answer) and teacher explanation by analyzing their transition and stationary gaze entropy. Employing
Towards National Connected Digital Twins - A Geospatial Perspective
Digital Twins are realistic digital representations of the physical world, frequently characterised by a two way link between digital and physical. Originating in manufacturing, they are now expanding to city and national scales. In this paper we explore connections between Geographic Information Science and National Digital Twins. Six different viewpoints and perspectives are presented on the top
Conflict simulation for shared autonomy in autonomous driving
We present a tool for modeling conflict situations that enables simulation and testing of situation awareness in shared autonomy, in this case in an autonomous driving scenario. The flexibility of the tool allows definition of new conflict situations, integration with various control and conflict detection systems, as well as customization of Takeover Request (TOR) signals and different means of c
IntraJ: An On-Demand Framework for Intraprocedural Java Code Analysis
Static analysis tools play a crucial role in software development by detecting bugs and vulnerabilities. However, running these tools separately from the code editing process often causes developers to switch contexts, which can reduce productivity. Previous work has shown how Reference Attribute Grammars (RAGs) can be used for declarative implementation of competitive tooling for intraprocedural
GARCH-Informed Neural Networks for Volatility Prediction in Financial Markets
Volatility, which indicates the dispersion of returns, is a crucial measure of risk and is hence used extensively for pricing and discriminating between different financial investments. As a result, accurate volatility prediction receives extensive attention. The Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (GARCH) model and its succeeding variants are well established models for stoc
POLLENOMICS: Decoding the Farming History of Europe Using Advanced Statistics to Combine Ancient DNA with Paleo-Pollen Data
This study uniquely combines advanced continental-scale data from two distinct sources: pollen-based past land cover (paleoecology) and ancient DNA (aDNA), developing a novel statistical model for spatiotemporal reconstructions of past land use across Europe. This groundbreaking approach integrates paleo-pollen and aDNA data, providing unprecedented insights into the environmental impacts of Holoc
