Pure cGMP-inhibited cAMP phosphodiesterase (cGI-PDE) in micrograms quantities was isolated from bovine aortic smooth muscle after more than 5000-fold purification using DEAE ion-exchange and affinity chromatography with a derivative of the specific cGI-PDE inhibitor cilostamide conjugated as a ligand to aminoethyl agarose (CIT-agarose). The cGI-PDE, which constituted about half of the high affinit

The high temperature reaction of SO2 with CaO was investigated in three reactors: a thermogravimetric reactor (TGA), a volumetric reactor (VR) and an entrained flow reactor (EFR). Several natural limestones with super fine particles were used as sorbents. It was found that the reaction could be well characterized by a two-stage process. The initial stage was very fast and lasted about 0.1-0.4 s. T

Optimality theory rests on the assumptions that short-term foraging decisions are driven by variation in environmental quality, and that these decisions have important implications for long-term fitness. These assumptions, however, are rarely tested in a field setting. We linked behavioral foraging decisions in food patches with measures of environmental quality covering larger spatial (resource d

The ubiquitin E3 ligase Cbl has been shown to negatively regulate tyrosine kinase receptors, including the stem cell factor receptor/c-Kit. Impaired recruitment of Cbl to c-Kit results in a deregulated positive signalling that eventually can contribute to carcinogenesis. Here, we present results showing that Cbl is activated by the SFKs (Src family kinases) and recruited to c-Kit in order to trigg

Analysen har bedrivits ur ett arbetsmarknadsekonomiskt perspektiv, med fokus på den långsiktiga utvecklingen av tillgång och efterfrågan på arbetskraThis book deals with return migration from Sweden in the period 1968-1996 to Chile, Germany, Greece, Iran, Poland, Turkey, United States and Yugoslavia, against the background of economic and political developments in Sweden and in the different source countries. An important question in the study regards whether return migrants deviate from other immigrants in terms of human capital characteristi

Recent experiments on mid-gap laser-triggered electrical breakdown in liquid dielectrics have been scrutinised. The sequence of events that leads to the disruptive discharge is described and accompanied by electric field calculations.

Adaptations and, counteradaptations are common in coevolving predatorprey systems, but little is known of the role of maternal transfer of adaptive traits in mediating species interactions. Here, we focused on tolerance against cyanobacterial toxins and asked whether this tolerance was an induced defense developed during Daphnia's lifetime, whether it was a trait that is constantly expressed, and

The overall purpose with this work is to investigate the bubbly flow in a aerated stirred tank using numerical simulations. Aerated stirred tanks are commonly used in chemical processes for producing for example insulin and antibiotics. The main requirement of these tanks, is to provide an optimal environment for the microorganisms found inside, with homogeneous mixing of air. The flow in a aerate

Previous work has indicated a crucial role for the extracellular cysteine proteinase of Streptococcus pyogenes in the pathogenicity and virulence of this important human pathogen. Here we find that the purified streptococcal cysteine proteinase releases biologically active kinins from their purified precursor protein, H-kininogen, in vitro, and from kininogens present in the human plasma, ex vivo.

Emerging lines of evidence indicate that the cutaneous human papillomavirus (HPV) types that belong to the genus Betapapillomavirus (beta HPV) are involved in the development of nonmelanoma skin cancer. Unlike the situation for mucosal HPV types, highly sensitive and reliable methods to identify characterized cutaneous HPV types in a single assay are limited. Here, we describe a novel one-shot met

A fully integrated 0.6 V VCO for the GPS L1 band is realized in a 90 nm RF-CMOS process. The purpose of the design is to demonstrate how suitable deep submicron CMOS transistors are for ultra low voltage, low power oscillator design. The VCO operates at 6.3 GHz and a divide-by-four circuit buffer provide the wanted 1575.42 MHz signal. Measured phase noise is for a 0.6 V supply voltage and bias cur

The project developed by three institutions in Denmark and Sweden –Malmoe School of Education, City Archives of Malmoe and the Cultural History Workshop in Denmark– uses the methods of oral history as an instrument in the production of historical awareness. It tries to elaborate multiple histories at several levels –nation, regional, local; ethnicized and gendered, social and political history– th
