Background and Aims: The risk of synchronous and metachronous colorectal cancer is influenced by heritable and environmental factors. As a basis for comparative studies, we provide population-based estimates of synchronous and metachronous colorectal cancer with a focus on non-heritable cases. Material and Methods: Based on data from national Danish cancer registers, we estimated the proportion of

This paper shows that political attitudes are linked to cooperative behavior in an incentivized experiment with a large sample randomly drawn from the Danish population. However, this relationship depends on the way the experiment is framed. In the standard game in which subjects give to a public good, contributions are not linked to political attitudes. In an economically equivalent version, in w

The Gaick is an enigmatic glaciated landscape in the Central Grampians, Scotland, dominated by an expansive dissected plateau. Previous studies have postulated widely differing interpretations of the glacial landforms and current understanding of the glacial events in this area is partly restricted by the absence of detailed glacial geomorphological mapping. To address this issue, we present a com

Due to their wide adaptability to different application fields spanning from opinion dynamics to biology, the analysis of evolutionary dynamics is a compelling problem in the science of networks and systems. In this paper, we deal with controlled evolutionary dynamics in networks. We discuss a novel approach to model these phenomena, which enables us to estimate the duration of the process dependi

The aggregation of fibrils of hyperphosphorylated and C-terminally truncated microtubule-associated tau protein characterizes 80% of all dementia disorders, the most common neurodegenerative disorders. These so-called tauopathies are hitherto not curable and their diagnosis, especially at early disease stages, has traditionally proven difficult. A keystone in the diagnosis of tauopathies was the d

Connected autonomous vehicles and industry 4.0 productions scenarios require ultra-reliable low-latency communication links. The varying positions of transmitter, reflecting objects and receiver cause a non-stationary time- and frequency-selective fading process. In this paper, we present the necessary hardware architecture and signal processing algorithms for a real-time geometry-based channel em

In order for a work on entrepreneurship to be published and attract attention, it must be interesting. The aims of this study are to understand why entrepreneurship scholars perceive entrepreneurship studies as interesting, what they consider interesting, and how they distinguish themselves from management scholars in their perception of interestingness. The study is based on responses from 915 en

In Europe, Scandinavia holds the largest concentration of rock art (i.e. petroglyphs), created c. 5000–first century BC, many of them showing figurative and seemingly narrative representations. In this paper, we will discuss possible narratological approaches applied to these images. We will present results from a recently completed research project financed by BFUF (the R&D Fund of the Swedish Tourism & Hospitality Industry). We have explored German tourists and how they search for tourist information at home and while travelling in Sweden. The overall aim was to understand how tourists’ information search behaviour affects the choice of attractions. The

Urban Destination Marketing Organisations (DMO) operate in a fast changing environment with ongoing challenges to face. Digitalisation is one of the issues that DMOs have to handle. As a result, we can see that many tourism offices are closed down in Sweden. However, has new

Two heliozelid species, Antispila oinophylla van Nieukerken & Wagner and Holocacista rivillei (Stainton) severely infest Italian grapevines. The volatile pheromones from calling females were collected by solid phase micro extraction (SPME) and analyzed by gas chromatography with electroantennographic detection (GC-EAD). Two compounds from A. oinophylla females eliciting electrophysiological ac

Aims/hypothesis: Identifying rare coding variants associated with albuminuria may open new avenues for preventing chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease, which are highly prevalent in individuals with diabetes. Efforts to identify genetic susceptibility variants for albuminuria have so far been limited, with the majority of studies focusing on common variants. Methods: We performed an
