Several assessments have reported on the weak compliance w
Molecular cluster based nanoelectronics
The use of molecular clusters as a basis of molecular single-electronic systems is considered experimentally and theoretically. The Langmuir-Blodgett formation and scanning tunneling microscope study of structures with chemically different cluster molecules is described. I-V curves and control curves of molecular single-electron transistors based on various single molecules were studied at room te
2,2 '-nitrophenylisatogen potentiates P2X(1) receptor mediated vascular contraction and blood pressure elevation
The objective of this research was to examine the effects of chemical compounds with possible P2 receptor modulating effects and to characterize the potentiating effects of 2,2'-nitrophenylisatogen (NPI) on P2X(1) receptors in vitro and in vivo. Chemical compounds were tested in an in vitro pharmacological assay using vascular segments from the rat mesenteric artery stimulated by P2 receptor-speci
The Fallen World in Coleridge’s Poetry
This study examines the motif of the Fallen World in Coleridge’s major poems The Ancient Mariner, Christabel and Kubla Khan . The use of Milton’s Paradise Lost as an intertextual foil throughout allows themes and metaphors inherent in the Fallen World motif to emerge in Coleridge’s poetry. A Fall presupposes a standard from which one has been separated downwards. Primarily, it is understood as man
Changes in GAD65Ab-Specific Antiidiotypic Antibody Levels Correlate with Changes in C-Peptide Levels and Progression to Islet Cell Autoimmunity.
Context: The previously reported absence of 65-kDa glutamate decarboxylase antibody (GAD65Ab)-specific antiidiotypic antibodies (anti-Id) in type 1 diabetes (T1D) patients at clinical onset could be due to an inability to mount an antibody response to GAD65Ab or a longitudinal decline in anti-Id levels. Objective and Design: We investigated anti-Id levels in longitudinal samples obtained from T1D
Layover Solutions in Multibaseline InSAR using Interpolated Arrays
This work deals with the problem of direction of arrival estimation of interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) signals in presence of layover. The focus here is on realistic acquisition systems with a low number of phase centres and nonuniform array geometry. An interpolated array approach is proposed, in order to apply spectral estimation techniques designed for uniform linear arrays. In
Deploying Goals and Measuring Efficiency in an Academic Organisation. A Pilot Study
In many organizations it is considered of vital importance to translate its vision and strategy into objectives, to determine the best means of achieving these and to review the results – with participation from all members, from management to shop floor. The objective of this study was to make a first test of a method that could be applied for verbalizing and communicating a common vision and ide
Enhanced 3D-GIS : Documenting Insula V 1 in Pompeii
This project was recently carried out as a part of The Swedish Pompeii Project, which was started in 2000 as a research and fieldwork activity initiated by the Swedish Institute in Rome. The aim was to record and analyze an entire Pompeian city block, Insula V 1. Since autumn 2011 a new branch of advanced digital archaeology, involving 3D reconstructions and documentation methods, was added to the
Geoelectrical resistivity monitoring for localizing gas at Landfills
In order to assess the potential of electrical resistivity for imaging gas migration at landfills, two relatively well-known sites - one bioreactor landfill and a conventional landfill - have been monitored successively. A three-dimensional resistivity image could be constructed every two hour on both sites. Meteorological parameters were monitored at the same time, with one measurement taken ever
Digging in excavation diaries : digital re-assessment of stratigraphy in 3D GIS. The sanctuary of Ayia Irini, Cyprus
During the last years, numerous research projects focussed on re-examination of past excavations, giving birth to re-evaluation of their documentation and material or to new discoveries. The aim of this paper is to present an ongoing research on the digital re-assessment of the Ayia Irini sanctuary’s stratigraphy using 3D GIS, by corroborating published material with data extracted from the origin
The Pulmonary Extracellular Matrix Is a Bactericidal Barrier Against Haemophilus influenzae in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) : Implications for an in vivo Innate Host Defense Function of Collagen VI
Non-typeable Haemophilus influenzae (NTHi) is a Gram-negative human commensal commonly residing in the nasopharynx of preschool children. It occasionally causes upper respiratory tract infection such as acute otitis media, but can also spread to the lower respiratory tract causing bronchitis and pneumonia. There is increasing recognition that NTHi has an important role in chronic lower respiratory
Core-hole localization and ultra-fast dissociation in SF6
Resonant inelastic x-ray scattering spectra excited at the fluorine K resonances of SF6 have been recorded. While a small but significant propensity for electronically parity-allowed transitions is found, the observation of parity-forbidden electronic transitions is attributed to vibronic coupling that breaks the global inversion symmetry of the electronic wavefunction and localizes the core hole.
Damage detection and deteriorating structural systems
This paper addresses the quantification of the value of damage detection system and algorithm information on the basis of Value of Information (VoI) analysis to enhance the benefit of damage detection information by providing the basis for its optimization before it is performed and implemented. The approach of the quantification the value of damage detection information builds upon the Bayesian d
