On the origin of Young alpha-rich stars

13 May 2026 13:00 to 14:00 | Seminar Valeria Cerqui, Postdoctoral fellow at Lund University, Sweden Abstract: Young alpha-rich (YAR) stars have been detected in the past as outliers of local age-[alpha/Fe] relations. These objects are enhanced in alpha elements but younger than typical thick disc stars. We investigate the global kinematics and chemical properties of YAR giant stars in the APOGEE D

Terbium among the heavy elements discovered in the atmosphere of the exoplanet KELT-9b

In a recent paper, Nicholas Borsato, along with collaborators Jens Hoeijmakers, Bibiana Prinoth, Brian Thorsbro, and Rebecca Forsberg, provides insightful research on the complex atmospheric composition of the exoplanet KELT-9b. The team captured the exoplanet's spectra during transit, revealing numerous elements within its atmosphere. This study not only verifies the presence of previously known e
