This study investigates the relationship between passenger volumes and the frequency and size of dwell times for commuter trains. We use data collected by automatic passenger count systems in Stockholm and show that dwell times often take longer than scheduled. To understand the effect of passenger volumes on delays, we use the frequencies of delays for different passenger volumes and delay sizes.
With increasingly effective treatments, early death (ED) has become the predominant reason for therapeutic failure in patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). To better prevent ED, patients with high-risk of ED must be identified. Our aim was to develop a score that predicts the risk of ED in a real-life setting. We used APL patients in the population-based Swedish AML Registry (n=301) an
BACKGROUND: Serious infections have been observed in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) on anti-TNF use-but to what extent these infections are due to anti-TNF or the disease activity per se is hard to disentangle. We aimed to describe how the rates of serious infections change over time both before and after starting anti-TNF in IBD.METHODS: Inflammatory bowel disease patients naïve t
Sex chromosomes are typically viewed as having originated from a pair of autosomes, and differentiated as the sex-limited chromosome (e.g. Y) has degenerated by losing most genes through cessation of recombination. While often thought that degenerated sex-limited chromosomes primarily affect traits involved in sex determination and sex cell production, accumulating evidence suggests they also infl

Academic institutions are frequently called on to evidence the impact they have on their regional ecosystems whilst at the same time respond to the expectations that they produce globally significant research. This often results in tensions because of the different drivers and rewards of these dual ambitions. This exploratory research project describes how international academic partners across fiv
A comprehensive study of the co-evolution of globular cluster systems (GCS) in galaxies requires the ability to model both the large-scale dynamics (0.01–10 kpc) regulating their orbital evolution, and the small-scale dynamics (sub-pc – au) regulating the internal dynamics of each globular cluster (GC). In this work, we present a novel method that combine semi-analytic models of GCS with fully sel
In this work, we investigate properties of intermediate-mass black holes (IMBHs) that escape from star clusters due to dynamical interactions. The studied models were simulated as part of the preliminary second survey carried out using the MOCCA code (MOCCA-SURVEY Database II), which is based on the Monte Carlo N-body method and does not include gravitational wave recoil kick prescriptions of
Is China part of the world? Based on much of the political, media, and popular discourse in the West the answer is seemingly no. Even after four decades of integration into the global socioeconomic system, discussions of China continue to be underpinned by a core assumption: that the country represents a fundamentally different 'other' that somehow exists outside the 'real' world. Either implicitl
Cation exchange capacity (CEC) has a key role in soil studies such as agriculture, energy balance, characteristics of the soil for food, maintaining water in the soil as well as soil pollution management. Its measurement is difficult and time-consuming. So, its prediction using artificial intelligent (AI) models with soil readily available properties can be the proper solution. In this study, the
Phthalates are common in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics and numerous consumer goods in our homes from which they can migrate and adhere to indoor dust particles. It is known that indoor dust exposure contribute to human phthalate intake; however, there is a lack of large studies with a repeated-measure design investigating how phthalate levels in indoor dust may vary over time in people's homes
Inborn errors of metabolism are genetic disorders that need to be recognized as early as possible because treatment may be available. In late-onset forms, core symptoms are movement disorders, psychiatric symptoms, and cognitive impairment. Eye movement disorders are considered to be frequent too, although specific knowledge is lacking. We describe and analyze eye movements in patients with an inb
Organic–inorganic (O–I) hybrid nanocomposites have already been widely investigated in the optoelectronic industry and are emerging in the biomedical field. In both cases, a thorough knowledge of the O–I hybrid morphology is key for reaching tailored properties of the devices; however, up to now little is known on this matter. Herein, we used advanced X-ray scattering and microscopy techniques to
Children's participation in economic activities has been documented as an inseparable part of the family support network in childhood studies. Children as an integral part of the parents' world contribute to enhanced social experiences, the continuity of the societal system, and the holistic well-being of the family. In the pro- baby global south children are political, economic, cultural, and soc
Feruloylated arabinoxylan (FAX) from cereal brans has large potential to generate multifunctional materials with customized macromolecular and nanostructural architectures and techno-functional properties. Here we investigate the chemical and structural mechanisms of hydrogel formation of wheat bran FAX following enzymatic crosslinking by laccase and a subsequent regeneration procedure involving f
