Den senaste månaden har vi mist två kära kollegor. Professor emerita Rosmari Eliasson Lappalainen dog stillsamt i hemmet den 22 december 2023. Hon blev 84 år. Professor emeritus Per Gunnar Edebalk somnade in den 11 januari efter en tids sjukdom, vid 83 års ålder. At Alvotech, bioreactors are used for the production of biosimilars. During the production scale-up process, issues can arise at larger scale that are difficult to predict based on physical experiments. Using CFD, two 3D bioreactor models of different scales have been created, namely the 15L HyPerformaTM Glass Bioreactor and 250L HyPerformaTM Single-Use Bioreactor, both manufactured by Thermo FishDuring bioreactor scale-up, unexpected failures become more prevalent due to the increase in volume. Lifetimes of some low-lying quartet levels in sulphur, chlorine and iron have been measured using the beam-foil technique. In general, the lifetimes obtained by curve fitting are in agreement with theory.
