Marc Schönwiesner

Mapping the human auditory cortex and its plasticity with fMRI

I will discuss how the representation of sound features in early auditory cortex is changed by experience and stimulus history. I will focus on the representation of spectrotemporal modulations and spatial cues. I will show how high-resolution FMRI and miniaturized programmable earplugs can be used to study auditory brain plasticity.

About the speaker

Schönwiesner investigates basic mechanisms of sound analysis in the human brain with functional magnetic resonance imaging, electroencephalography, and psychoacoustic tests.
